Layer 2 VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a virtual link that provides a point-to-point secure connection between two or multiple customer sites. Layer 2 VPN is probably most cost efficient way to provide secure connection between different physical locations serviced by Rainbow Broadband.

This solution is based on the “E-Line” definition introduced by the MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum ): a point-to-point private line service that connects two customer sites using a single EVC (Ethernet Virtual Circuit ).

The customer receives:

• An Ethernet hand off from a single UNI (User Network Interface) device installed at each site.
• Ethernet hand off at a location of their choice which provides a data interface already compatible with customer’s switching/routing/firewall equipment. Ethernet hand off eliminates additional costs associated with delivery of traditional communication links.

This service is available utilizing Rainbow Broadband certified access router.

LAYER 3 VPN

Layer 3 VPN is a networking solution that provides a virtual point-to-point secure connection between two or multiple customer sites. This service may securely cross Rainbow Broadband network boundaries.

The customer receives:

• An Ethernet hand off from a single UNI (User Network Interface) device installed at each site.
• Ethernet hand off at a location of their choice which provides a data interface already compatible with customer’s switching/routing/firewall equipment. Ethernet hand off eliminates additional costs associated with delivery of traditional communication links.
• Rainbow’s outstanding Technical Support

This service is available utilizing Rainbow Broadband certified access router.

TRAFFIC PRIORITIZATION

Rainbow Broadband customers can request specific Traffic Prioritization over MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) EVC(s) or Internet connections for all Transport or Internet products.

Rainbow IP/MPLS network is engineered to support a total of 6 Classes of Service (CoS) divided under three groups:

Best Effort — all Internet applications including Internet browsing, E-mails, file transferring, etc.

Assured Forwarding — mission critical applications requiring guaranteed delivery. Assured Forwarding group has higher priority.

Expedited Forwarding — streaming applications such as VoIP, IP TV, etc. Expedited forwarding offers the highest priority and low jitter and latency.

This service is available with a Rainbow Broadband certified access router.
